What is a futon?

A futon is a type of Japanese mattress consisting of a layer of soft padding wrapped in fabric. Traditionally, Japanese futons are made up of layers of cotton or natural fibres. Karup’s futons are thicker than traditional Japanese futons and are designed to provide greater comfort. By incorporating 5-10% polyester into the cotton, the mattress is given greater density and thickness than traditional Japanese futons. The cotton in the futon moulds to your body, the coconut fibre layer provides support, and the soft foam cushions slight movements.
